New Wabi-Sabi Sculpture with Industrial Materials and Found Objects
I completed a new sculpture this week. This is another sculpture in my body of work that embodies the ancient Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi.
Characteristics of Wabi-Sabi aesthetics and principles include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature. Wabi-Sabi nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect.
The title for this work is, 'Bullish'. The piece measures 38 inches wide, 15 inches high and 4.5 inches deep.
